A prominent Chicago real estate attorney with the law firm of Sidley & Austin, Stanley Stallworth, and his nephew, Therrie Miller, have been charged with drugging an 18-year old male and sexually assaulting him at Stallworth's home in the Bronzewood neighborhood on Chicago's south side. The Chicago Tribune reports that Miller met the 18-year old at a barber shop and invited him to hang out with him at his uncle's home. A short time after he arrived at Stallworth's home, the boy says he lost consciousness after being served a drink. When he awoke, he found Miller performing a sex act on him he alleges. The State's Attorney's Office claims the youth tried to fight off the assault when the 50-year old Stallworth joined the sexual assault. He lost conscious again and awoke the following morning naked. After Miller drove him home, the boy told his mother what had happened and she took him to the hospital for evaluation. A judge set the pair's bail at $150,000.
Stallworth has worked at Sidley & Austin for the past 20 years according to the Tribune. Sidley & Austin is the law firm where Barack and Michelle Obama met while Obama was clerking at the firm one summer and Michelle was working as an associate fresh out of law school. Bill Ayers' wife Bernadine Dohrn worked at the firm at the same time, although she was never admitted to practice law in Illinois because of her past terrorist activities with Ayers in the Weather Underground organization. Stallworth contributed $10,000 to Obama's Victory Fund during the 2012 election cycle according to federal election records. His home is not far from Obama's home on Chicago's south side.
Unfortunately, this happens more frequently than you would think within the gay community. Most of these creeps are never prosecuted because the victim is too embarrassed to tell their parents or go to authorities. Some of the perps even videotape the assault and post it on the Internet. The perps are typically severe closet cases who go to great lengths to hide their sexual orientation to protect their professional status.
According to Stallworth's profile on Sidley & Austin's website, he co-chairs the firms Diversity Committee and is a member of the firm's Recruitment Committee. He is the firm’s Leadership Council member for Chicago United and was the firm’s 2001 Fellow to Leadership Greater Chicago. His practice is focused on representing property owners, developers, real estate investors, lenders, and hotel owners, managers and operators in many different types of commercial real estate matters according to his profile.
